Hello from Chengdu,
Which we will leave in about an hour by our beloved hard sleeper train: 12
hours to Panzhihua, and from there directly 7 more hours by bus to
Lijiang...We're fully equiped with playing cards, mini-backgammon
(magnetic), instant yummy noodle snacks (just add hot water, which you get
in the train, what a service!), apples (yes, we'll peel them, don't worry),
coconut cookies etc.
So, since the last time we wrote we saw parts of beijing, got ripped off by
a riqshaw(?) driver... and travelled to Xi'an where it was raining cats and
chickens... which we didn't eat (just in case). In Xi'an we raced to see the
terra-cotta army... soooo cool! and we visited the downtown area the next
day, and our favorite was the mosque... we flew out of Xi'an that day into
Chengdu in the evening - Panda, Sichuan Opera, Taoist temple and crazy
out-of-control crowd assault on shopping... incredible!
Now we' re approaching the 'back to nature" part of our trip and we can" t
wait to go finally hiking!!!
Hasta la pasta, we have to run for the train now.
Hugs and kisses,
Brunolito e Nicolina
